I found some more coins and I now have some idea of what kind they might be, but I'm still stumped on the exact coin since I'm so new to this. And I know its better to make separate posts... I just like having everything in one place

I'm guessing 1 and 2 are Byzantine, although I'm still not 100% sure and I have some idea about 6, but the rest are still completely unknown

Thanks for the help,
Emily

Hi

Posting in the correct forum helps get the right people looking at them. So a thread called 'unknown Islamic coin' will help get an answer more than mixing them together. Giving the diameters and weights is also helpful.

The first looks Islamic. The second might be too.

The third is Roman - Licinius from London, Genio Pop Romani, RIC VI Londinium 209c http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.6.lon.209c

The last is a James II gun money halfcrown from May 1690, so belongs in the UK forum. The diameter is useful on these as there were large and small versions.

Possibly Cales, Campania for #5, Apollo obv./Man-headed bull with lyre above for rev.

The first two are Islamic. The first appears to be Umayyad or early 'Abbasid, c. AD 700-750+, mint and date worn away.

The second belongs to a later period, perhaps 13th century or later.

Please post only one or two coins per thread.
