Poll Question
I think I started collecting coins when I was 7 or 8. I remember stashing world coins and random old coins that my mom had in this old box she had given me to keep my junk in. I've collected on and off over the years through my teens and through college. Now I'm married, with a 6 month old and at 33 collecting harder than ever. When did you start? and I apologize if this poll has already been done before.

I started collecting Lincoln cents just after the reverse was changed. Wonder how many new collectors will start this year because of the change in Lincoln cents? Side Note: Most people in the area really hated the look of those new pennies.

I voted 6-8 since the evidence proves that when I was 7 I already had several coins. And even had them listed, unlike today!

I think new coin designs always spawn new collectors. But yes, I have a hard time getting behind the new lincoln designs. They lack the artistry and emotion. they have too much of a graphic designer feel.

I voted 9-12, using my father's coins from a big barrel where he threw his change everyday. I put the coins in his books... and well, the books are still in his house!
Now I'm 39 and I just got re-interested the past year while I started stacking some silver bullion. I just finished an IKE book, and am working on SBAs and JFKs. These books are uncirculated and proof coins.
I have books I started with my own loose change accumulated over the past couple of years... So I have non-proof books of Lincolns, Jeffs, FDRs, Washington Qtrs. Also, I obtained a few indian heads and Buffs and bought books, but am not actively collecting.
With the circulated coins, I plan of getting a few boxes of various denominations and filling in those pesky holes.
I would love to start a 7070 Dansco, but I think I will finish what I started before buying more books.

I was in first grade when I started. Then I took a couple of decades off. I started collecting again a few years ago when I quit smoking. I was looking for something to keep me busy during the winter months and I had extra disposable income.

I think I was 6 and just came to the US when my mom found a 1935 verdigris'd penny in the change and gave it to me. I still have it!
