Needing some help with this one, its a 2020 D Dime that is missing some of the clad, and some thinning near the rim on East and West. Please let me know what you think.

It's a 2020-D, not 2022. Any texture to the discoloration?

Weakness on the reverse Leads me to believe this is not PMD

That looks like a partial missing clad layer to me. What does it weigh?

This could not possibly have happened at the mint.

Agree with Coinfrog, NO way to happened at the Mint. If we look at the clad processes, this will be impossible.

the nickel/copper cladding looks to be forcibly removed. even the rim is gone at both ends. I say PMD as well.

I initially thought PMD as well but the reverse at 5 o'clock shows weakness. That area seems questionable to me. The uplift on the obverse rim at 9 o'clock suggests PMD tho. I'm no expert at all on this type of thing. Just looking for suggestions on how this could have happened.

It'd be interesting also to figure out how the obverse rim got that.

If the cladding was removed, the the devices would be ghost like. This is a struck on a partial clad missing planchet.
Partial clad missing:

Removed clad:

If the cladding was removed it would look like the top coin on this image. Just a ghost image of the devices.

Perhaps we have a little of both going on here. Missing clad layer and then PMD on the reverse rim. The color change on the copper suggests that the nickel took a hit and moved up.
