1970-S Penny (Not In The Greatest Shape)

crosswordpuzzle New Member United States 6 Posts	Posted 05/05/2022 1:58 pm I found a 1970s penny with THE DATE double die. I saw on on PCGS in worse condition but the double die on it was on LIBERTY. I am going to send it to PCGS see how well I fair. Report this Post to the Staff

JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21622 Posts	Posted 05/05/2022 2:09 pm Don't bother sending it in, that is Machine Doubling, a worthless type of doubling. Look at the mint mark, you can't have a Doubled Die on it as it was hand punched . Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/05/2022 2:20 pm Typical Machine Doubling seen on the 1968-1972 cents. The affected areas are where the contour that was on the devices, was moved/hammered away from the lower flat 90 Degree angle that the Machine Doubling creates. Metal/machine movement alters the copper devices. Not a doubled die. Report this Post to the Staff
