I just found this 2013 Lincoln D Shield and the end of the roll shield facing me? Is this what I think it is? I hope so! Is this a mule?

Why do you think it's a mule?

When the strike happens dies clashes with no metal in between.

From the Glossary:
Mule Error
This is a rare Mint error where the obverse die is of one coin and the reverse die is of another coin. The most famous of the Mule errors is a Sacagawea dollar/Washington quarter Mule, where a Washington quarter obverse is paired with a Sacagawea reverse.

I think they're confusing this with the 1999 mule die clash cent. This coin just has Die Deterioration, as the lines going to the rim correspond with the edges of the letters.

@fplagge I'm familiar with that quarter and that quarter is a different situation if I'm not mistaken it was already struck it is through the process of it was sorted into the mixing chamber actually two different coins struck together not a mule it was two different coins struck together not dies but two different coin stuck together.

@Tanman2001 You believe its Die Deterioration? So what is the cause of the raised devices around the rim in the top middle of these letters?

Just a normal cent for value. Not a mule. The definition above is correct.

Just a die wear issue on this coin. No premium for this.

@Coop Thanks for weighing in! so what's the deal with the 1999 mule coin or the 1959 wheat. How do they play into the Mule theme. They have no different obverse or reverse. I'm curious because the ones you just posted are well known because they have obvious differences but as a new person may miss something like the 1999 mule because many people call it a vise job before it was authenticated by PCGS.

I agree with this being a form of Die Deterioration.
Metal flow is stronger towards the rim and can affect the devices on the die.

The more coins you look at the more you will notice this effect.

If this coin was a real example. It is questionable.
