I've continued to add to my collection, but didn't want to bore anyone with what are easily attained. I went to my LCS this morning and she had put this aside for me. This is now the oldest US coin in my collection and I think she's beautiful. It's just so hard to get raw coins this old and in this condition. Thanks for looking, Jon

I like the distinctive look of the older ones' design. This is a great looking piece. Quote: This is now the oldest US coin in my collection and I think she's beautiful. It's just so hard to get raw coins this old and in this condition. To me this is a sad note of commercialism how the slabbing industries have created a mindset in the masses that you NEED alleged expertise to put their stamp on a coin. So prices go up and everyone suffers. Especially considering what people pay for on the label has nothing to do with any verifiable standard and can change if re-slabbed. But...there is an upside. B/c people have so much faith in slabs, they forget to buy the coin. I got a nice 1916 D walker in a slab saying it was cleaned. The dealer is a respected dealer, said he could not understand why the piece was called cleaned, and neither could I. But he sold it to me at the price of a cleaned one b/c he is more concerned about reputation than the almighty dollar. I have gotten quite a few nice coins from him this way now. Sorry no pics - not presently available to take them!

Thought about putting together a high grade set with that 2nd half book that starts in the 1930's into the 1940's.It is a beautiful coin for sure.

Beautiful coins. I love Capital Plastic holders and I picked this up at a local coin show in May and was thinking of putting my set pulled from circulation back in the 60's into it but after seeing your beautiful MS coins, I am not sure it would do the holder justice.

jfransch, I say, "go for it!" That's a cool holder. " B/c people have so much faith in slabs, they forget to buy the coin." The lady who always helps me at my LCS said basically the same thing, that collectors that are buying the slab and not grading themselves are missing out on one of the fun parts of the hobby. Jon
