Looks like a double strike but obviously other factors in play,strange Obverse.

It definitely looks like a double strike to me.

Is there a desirable difference between the two? What started as an 'how much is my coin worth' is becoming a very interesting 'hobby'. So much to learn but so interesting!

Agree, very strange obverse indeed.

I'd be happy with that in my collection regardless of the cause.

Yes I think one is much less common - I'm not sure which is which but I think this is the less common one.
