I will be submitting this to PCGS for grading next week. I believe it's a VAM-4A with die clashing and ovaloids on the obverse and reverse. I planned to slab it because of the interesting toning, but since this variety is an R-6, is it worth having them attribute the VAM as well?

I think I just answered my own question. PCGS limits the VAMs it will attribute, and the 1903-O VAM-4A is apparently not a variety they will recognize. I guess I could send it to ANACS instead, but I'd rather have it in a PCGS holder.
Rest in Peace

You can always have it certified by PCGS and attributed by VSS.

That's a good idea, I hadn't thought about VSS. Although I'm not sure how I feel about their label covering up the PCGS hologram and QR code.

Basically this VAM is common. Folks should be paying for the value of a 1903-O, not the VAM. If they do pay up for the VAM, they are not knowledgeable in the commonality of this die pair and clashes. So bottom line for me is to not bother with any type of AOH fees, unless you want to enter it into a Registry of some sort. Just my HO.

Thanks for your thoughts. I was leaning towards that anyway, so I appreciate the confirmation.
