Crush my dreams!! This coin is in horrible condition, it came out of a box stuff left by my grandpa when he died(1999) that I just found last week. It weighs 2.7g, the lip around the edge is a little thicker than normal, & the L is split down the middle. Is this a D/S, D/D, S(I wish), or just an 80 year old penny? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Yes sorry about that! Why do you think the weights off? Is the missing half of the L in Liberty, from wear, or an off center strike? The coin has a thick outer lip, I'm not sure what that's called.

lots of wear, notice that the rims are completely worn down to the field in some point even blending into the wheat stalk on the right. It could have started out a little light. 3.11g nominal +- .12g So the out the door new it could have weighed as light as 2.99g

The L is normal - back then the L was backed up against the rim, and now that the rim is so worn down, it is merging with the L.
As for the MM,
i do not think it is a D/S or anything else. Look at the image Coop put up. The D MM has 'tails or serifs extending from the up right of the D - yours does not. It just looks like it took some circulation hits and flattened it out a bit.
