Liberty 1804 silver dollar ... Well this has been an EXCITING weekend. My husband and I are treasure hunters when it comes to old rare coins. We have originals and fakes all together, "BUT" in the flow of our hunt... we believe that we found a REAL 1804! I have both fake and believed to be real 1804. Where am I suppose to go to authenticate it? I live ij shady city when it comes to coin dealing so I don't trust San Francisco dealers. They almost always attempt the swindle! Any suggestions?

Post a picture of it and perhaps we can save you some trouble. There are a bazillion fakes of these and the chance that yours is real is about as close to zero as you can get.

Agree that this is one of, if not THE, most copied U.S. classic coin. Please show us pictures.

Based on your description I would say "most likely" real. But as is always the case , pictures needed to verify.

Suggestions: 1.) post pictures so we can tell you why the coin isn't real 2.) waste your money and send it to PCGS and let them tell you why it isn't real.

I'm guessing this person, like many one and done posters, is waiting for a facebook/twitter type of response alerting them that discussion is taking place on their post.

I suppose followup is unnecessary. We all know it's fake.
