Found this one in a big estate collection that had a couple of minor error coins. Remarkably it was labeled correctly on the 2x2. Coin is struck through a lamination fragment from a different coin, with the U of UNUM and the P of PLURIBUS visible in the struck through portion along with a bit of the top of the memorial. It is always just a bit better when you can see some detail from the bit that was struck through rather than just a recess in the coin. Note that in rotated photos the weird light angles can make raised/incuse look backwards. 1971-D Lincoln Memorial cent mint error - struck through lamination flake

It's interesting that there is a visible ST, tho in reverse. Looking forward to what's going on there.

Quote: It is always just a bit better when you can see some detail from the bit that was struck through rather than just a recess in the coin. That is a great point @tb. I wonder how often we are proclaiming that a coin was Struck Through Grease or gritty grease when actually it was struck through a delaminated fragment from another coin (such as what you have here).

Now THAT is pretty cool! Looks the the 'U' of 'United' from another coin was struck in that strike through.

Thanks all! But Dearborn and SoundBeing you lost me. I know of no ST struck on the reverse besides in STATES and I see no U of UNITED either, other than where that one is supposed to be as well.

Your last picture, a U bigger than life. Under the C.

As noted in my descriiption, that is the first U of UNUM, not the U of UNITED. The P of PLURIBUS is also visible, reversed, above it touching into the C of CENT.
