Hello,

I bought a bag of "junk foreign" today at a shop. The bag contained about 15 actual junk foreign coins; four pre-64 Roosevelt dimes, two pre-64 quarters, a french 50 centime from 1914, and a 1937 10 pfenning; I paid €22 figuring the silver covered the cost.

So, I was very surprised to see this coin amongst the others... Can someone help?

I think it is one of these two, but the reverse does not align correctly. The weight is 14.57

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you mean it isn't coin alignment? Otherwise, it's the first link https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces123479.html

@john - hello ... the two photos are the coin's obverse and flipped 180 degree - isn't the shield/crest facing the wrong direction? ie Right to Left vs. Top to bottom?

I don't know this type but it seems odd for a hammered coin to be anything but 'variable alignment'.

@john, do you see what I am saying though? the reserve is not up/down, but left/right.

I know it's hammered and there's room for error, but no examples I have seen online so far show the orientation so 'off'.
