Hi! This coin was in a Old Whitman album, when flipping the coin over, I observed what appears to me as a double die 'C' but I could not find it on V.Vista's listings. Thank you. javascript:insertsmilie('')
You won't find it listed as it is not a Doubled Die. Looks more like some sort of a contact mark on the top of the C. Nice close up photography though.
Worn die issue and slight MD on the tops of the devices. It the devices were doubled, they could all be enlarged. Not just one device affected. Not often to see the larger devices affected on the reverse of the wheat cents. But sometimes happens. So to see doubling on a single device could be Machine Doubling or coin damage. Hub doubling usually affects more than one device, but several in that area. On the 1943 example, the devices are more affected on the top area of the coin, then less on the ONE and even less on the CENT. So the spread offset was slightly affected on one area, and stronger on another. (but not a single device being affected)
