Out of the 5 random dollar coins on hand while I cashed my check this week, I got this beautiful coin. Any Guesses On The Grade? I am a definite newbie and trying to learn with photograde lol. Either way, I'm really excited to find this in the wild. Great bonus to a rainy Friday in Florida :)

@ssf, finding proof coins, even impaired, in the wild does make for a great day. Well done.

It definitely has a bit of rub and wear. It's still very cool to think, this coin is older than I am (born 87), and was put into circulation, yet survived this well.
If coins could talk, right? I can't imagine too many people had it before me. Possibly some kid got ahold of someone's set recently, or just happened to sit in a vault somewhere?
As I'm growing a bit older and realize my mortality more, things like coins and fossils fascinate me.
I'm grateful to have found this site. Thanks again for the input :)

For it being an impaired proof, it is in nice condition. Which type is it, type1 or 2? John1

Nice find from your bank. Always fun to come across an impaired proof in the wild.

It is a type 1 with the blob S.
I happen to have a really awesome teller at bank of america. He saves any silver half dollar and dollar coins for me. He also sets aside mint rolls of gold dollars, 2 dollar bills, and other interesting finds. I go about twice a week to his branch.
I often buy him a sub for lunch to show my thanks. I've gotten some decent stuff at other branches, but I almost always get something to note when I visit his.

Nice, that's about as close as one can get to a unmarred proof coin in the wild. I've always liked that reverse design in proof because when the polished areas reflect darkness they depict the actual darkness of space between Earth and moon.

Yea its an awesome reverse. Definitely gunna put the reverse up on display. Very cool design.
Of the 5 coins one was also a 1979 wide rim and one was a high grade 99 susan b. The final 2 were just decent circulated 79s.

Proofs in circulation are fun. Likely emerged from a sealed set in the not-too-distant past.
