BuffaloIronTail Valued Member United States 92 Posts	Posted 06/12/2022 2:55 pm They didn't make coins very well at San Francisco from about the late 1960's to the mid 1970's. Looks like shoddy work on changing out dies. S.F. also had a group of employees purposefully making errors to sell. The coins were secreted out of the Mint in various ways, including in the oil pans of autos. Pete Report this Post to the Staff

How'd they get them past security before exiting the building and then into the parking lot where they could crawl under their car, remove the 14-26 bolts, drop their oil pan, hide the coins, reinstall the oil pan and then refill engine with oil and then successfully leave the premises?
