Hi guys, I'm new to collecting, so I have lots of questions. But I found this in my change, is it real?, what is wrong with it?, is it a 1974?, any help would be aprreciated

That penny has spent a fair amount of time in a parking lot being run over again and again. No errors, just damage unfortunately.

No errors, just a badly damaged coin worth 1 cent.
It is only an error if it happens during the actual striking of the coin.
Anything that happens after that, such as your coin is damage.

Very, very real. Very, very damaged (post-strike). And, worth a solid one cent.

this is what we call a "parking lot" coin. No extra value (of course) and you may have problems spending it.

I can remember now that is the penny that I dropped in that parking lot. Yeah it had seen the worst care. Put it out of its misery and spend it.

Even one incuse mark can turn it in to a cull coin. So you have one that was damaged. Not mint error.
