Hi Everyone,

I came across this quarter doing some roll hunting and it was so unusual. I know that while rare it is possible for a coin to get bent during the minting process. This one looks like it also might have been clipped for a possible bowtie that failed. Anyway here are the pictures I am anxious to hear your opinions.

Thanks,
Janet

Just damage.
There is no way for a coin to get bent while in the collar
and being struck.

I agree not a mint error but rather damage. Since the blanks are cut prior to the coin being stamped, any residual marks from the blanking process should be virtually obscured. These marks are more recent.

someone went to a lot of trouble to damage this one,
First they put it in a vise with another quarter and pressed the rim into this one.
Second: they bent it all out of whack.
and third they sanded the rim down is some areas to remove the reeded edge.

Wherever you read that, please do not use that place for more information concerning the minting process.

I agree with all of the above, post mint damage. No way this is some sort of mint error, sorry.
