As asked I'm posting all my inherited coins as separate threads for grading. Also, I'm not a coin collector, so it would be helpful if I could get a dollar amount estimate to go along with the grade.

The 1826 Capped Bust half dollar is very high grade at about AU55 with a beautiful strike and great luster. The bust half is worth about $650. Also very original and in demand by collectors.

I'll say genuine and agree with AU-55 or so. I think there's been a coincident hit on the mouth.

Absolutely gorgeous. If you considering selling them you should contact an auction house like Heritage or Great Collections. Your grandfather clearly knew what he was doing and bought the best of the best.

Edit - Oops my grade: This one close to Mint State and might grade low Mint State like MS62 even if really AU++ because it is a knock-out.

I agree. In fact, if you are going to sell them Heritage will take care of slabbing them for you.

shes a beauty. I agree with the AU55 grade. one recently sold at this grade for $1140 in april. they show the retail value as $775 and prior sales look like they are in the $600-650 range. these coins have been increasing in value would use the more conservative number of $650 for submission. there are quite a number of varieties of this coin which can affect value. these are called overton varieties. you can have PCGS add the variety to the slab for an additional cost and some are pretty rare so you may want to consider that.

someone may chime in here to give you the overton number. (not in my wheelhouse) when you are on the PCGS.com price guide you can look up the actual value of the variety.

I say AU-58. The chatter might be on the coin holder window. I really think you need these coins slabbed asap.

This beautiful 1826 Capped Bust half dollar is the O-109 variety. This is a rarity of R-1, 1000+ known examples, very common. The special thing about this coin is the grade, which I put at AU-58. This coin has great eye appeal, and no major distracting marks. Typical weakly struck stars for this variety, and a handful of minor rim bumps. I put a value of about $550 on this coin as-is.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me there is still a shine on the coin. I would guess AU55.
