Has anyone ever used it? I've tried researching it andcant find much about it. From what I have found, sounds like a safe cleaner, that will not affect coins surface or luster, just remove any light toning. Is this possible?

Blue Bolding is mine.

Rule of thumb is to never clean a coin. If not done properly it will only hurt its value. If you absolutely Must clean one there are a variety of solutions you can use without buying some homemade chemical cocktail from a non-numismatic company. Acetone, Olive Oil, Distilled Water, etc.

MS-70 8 oz. Coin Cleaner

Coin Collecting Supplies

SKU: MS-70 Brand: Betterbilt Chemicals

MS-70 8 oz. coin cleaner. Industrial strength coin brightener. It's like nothing ever on the market. Safe on gold, silver, copper, nickel, bronze and brass. Contains no acids or solvents, will not discolor mint state copper coins when used as directed. Designed to remove surface contamination such as PVC and dirt.

Important note about cleaning products.
While cleaning coins is generally considered by most professional collectors to be unacceptable, we sell cleaning products as an accommodation for those customers who have a desire to purchase them. We recommend that if you use any cleaning product on your coins, that you test the product on a non-valuable coin first. We are not responsible for the manufacturer's use recommendations and/or claims of effectiveness. As such, coin cleaning products cannot be returned for refund, credit or exchange.

- Use on all gold, silver and copper coins
- Instantly removes tarnish and finger marks from un-circulated and proof coins
- Special formula keeps coins bright longer after cleaning
- Invaluable to the numismatist
- Will not harm silver, but may remove artificial oxidation

Do NOT use on stainless steel, lacquered surfaces, platinum or artificially oxidized silver

Do not use MS70 on any coins containing copper. For silver/gold it's best used on AU or MS coins when you want to remove surface contamination or light toning.

It is a harsh cleaner IMHO. It works well and I've used it on many silver bullion coins. I would not use it on any coin of significant numismatic value. The statement, "will not affect coins surface or luster" is not true. There will be some affect to both the surface and the luster of the coin though it is usually minor.

Remember this is a cleaner - experiment with low value coins and see if you like the results.

"Special formula keeps coins bright longer after cleaning"....This bothers me! What is left on the coin that they could make this claim? Don't clean unless a must!

Statements like this alone should make it clear that you shouldn't clean coins.

I actually was given a small bit of this by my dealer one time. I had bought from him a 1935 Canadian Dollar in AU, which had horrific PVC Damage. Seriously, due to the amount of PVC film present, the mass of this coin was nearly about 300% of what it should have been. So I scrubbed this coin for hours, and finally I removed 99.9% of the film. It is now an acceptable looking coin. I only paid bullion on the coin, so I got a good deal even though it is not a cleaned coin. I'm happy to say that it has retoned a bit over the past couple of years.
