I have here this interesting token (souvenir?) from the original Cutty Sark. Honestly I don't know much about it but I've been holding onto it for a few years now after I found it in a job lot.It says it comes from the original foremast and feeels quite weighty - lead? I hope I'm not getting poisoned hehe...
I suspect it is some kind of 20th Centry souvenir type of thing...
Does anybody know anything about this souvenir/token? I would greatly appreciate any information.

I've never seen it but it looks like it's originally from a key ring. Your example looks quite old but it may be from wear rather than age.
Here it is for sale on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334441329318?tmp=no. Looks relatively new there. Perhaps sales from this were used to finance relatively recent work on the ship, although from what I've read it suffered terribly from fire that occurred during restoration work in 2007.
As to the metal, I wouldn't worry. According to the certificate, metals were added (looks like pewter to me) to the original metal to make the key fob.

I found one exactly like this on Worthpoint but I don't have subscription to know where it sold or for how much. I'd guess it came after the fire of 2007 and during the subsequent restoration of the ship.

The masts (3) were changed much earlier during trips to Australia and could be from that also as the tall masts were no longer needed per the above wikipedia article.

It's a neat medallion.

I agree. It is really neat. Looks like the company that made it was located in Birmingham and operated between 1920-2016. (AJ Gilbert Ltd).

Well that was an eye opener! I was thinking it was going to be some mid 20th century thing due to the oldish look of the metal there - but at least the metal IS old, rather than just old-looking! As it states on one side..That was a turnaround at least..the artifact itself is old in one definite way, even though it was a relatively recent commemorative piece. I never knew the cutty-sark was still around, either!...
