How and where could I go, other than here, to find this info?

Just a die crack and very common spot for them.

It is not PMD, it is a Die Crack.
The four corners of the Memorial are a common place for cracks on any year.

@dar, the corners of the Lincoln Memorial are common areas for die cracks due to the sharp corners being stress risers. This can be seen in the image below.
