I just got my shipment today. I had the same "Oh my! The coins are wrecked!" feeling when I saw the marks on the packaging.

Upon closer inspection I see they are only on the plastic and agree they appear to be there to keep the coins from rotating.

I have not removed these coins yet and the sets will likely stay intact until I get an album for the American Women Quarters.

I wonder if the indents at the 4 'corners' of the coin is intended to minimize contact to the coins at the edges.
Jbuck, when you remove the coins from their little prison, look and see if there is head room for the obverse and reverse. you know, not touching anything top and bottom too.

Looking at it with that in mind, I suspect you may be right! I can see a noticeable gap above the coin face and away from the edge.

Thanks for having a look, I think that this new packaging was designed to help keep the coins safer. I do know that in the past, the coin could rotate in the holes sometimes and just didn't look great with the coins all mixed up at different angles.

Mine are "in the USPS system in transit to the next facility" (from Nashville). No ETA yet but no big rush either. I will live vicariously through everyone else who has already received theirs.

The Denver set looks awesome, the strike on these coins look a lot better than the P set!

In my experience, that is a general rule that has held for decades now.

Well, my sets have arrived: and yes the Denver set does look better - but I wonder if it is just an optical illusion with the red and blue packaging. The Denver coins look sharper and clearer, possibly due to the red color of the package. The Blue is very dark and give the coins a darker appearance.

Mine came in on Thursday, looking good.

Besides the S-Proof ASE and maybe the American Liberty medal, that wraps up my US Mint purchases for the year.
