Hi all,

New member from the UK here. I have a fair collection of morgans both graded and raw. I have this one 1881 o which has a die crack running all across UNITED and across the eagle wing. Have been trying to identify the VAM type but can't find anything like it. Any help appreciated!

Photos of the date and mintmark positions may help in determining the VAM. The cracks pictured are likely not enough to be a VAM listing.

Nothing notable in your photos. If you can provide full obverse and reverse photos with good resolution, there are great VAMmers on this site who can help identify any possibilities. In the meantime (if you haven't already) go to this link and start walking through the possibilities.

On second look, the die chip in the first 8 may be indicative of VAM-23. The profile would exhibit slight doubling if that is the case.

Obverse die cracks appear to match 3 different VAMs 1J, 1K, and 20. Take a look at those and find the reverse that matches possibly.....http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...LFCP_Gallery
