I will get better pics tomorrow night, I promise!! I can't take it out of the cardboard flip as I have nothing to put it in now.
This will make the 8th Indian Cent/Flying Eagle pattern in my collection. Fun fact.....this appears to be the only cent struck by the US mint that has a reeded edge. I'm confident looking though the plastic that the edges look authentic. They are very even and very crisp. I'm still in shock to be honest. This will go down as one of the best cherrypicks I will EVER buy, hands down. The coin is beautiful, outside of the few minor spots on the reverse as mentioned above.
I think it has all the characteristics of a proof, but it is just mildly mirrored. It might grade Proof, It might grade MS.....don't care, all are very rare!

Okay....Here is what I can do with my phone. You can still see the reeded edge in these pics! These pics are taken through the 2x2 cardboard holder it is living in right now. I'm guessing that this will grade 64 or better. I will get better pics up tomorrow night when I get home.

How much did you acquire this for?
I wonder what kind of money this would bring..

Paid $700. It has to get graded to determine the value. Last trade at 64 was just north of $4k.

Looks like the high date variety, Pollock 360. Likely genuine as the noted ones with added reeding were the low date variety. I'll guess PR64 or maybe even PR65. You really never know what can turn up. Congrats on an amazing coin!

Wow - great story and an amazing cherrypick. I join the others who have never heard of this pattern and look forward to better photos and TPG opinion.

Quote: I am not an expert on these, but the date does not seem to match the example from PCGS. https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin...-j-300/60455 There were two obverse dies used for J300, a high date and a low date. RedRaider's coin is the high date variety.

I appreciate all the research from fellow members! It looks like it has been identified as the high date proof. I have Rick Snows attribution guides at home and will see what he says about them. Time to renew my PCGS membership.

An incredible cherrypick, that's really something! I don't recall seeing a reeded-edge pattern IHC before...
