I've been working so many hours I've not been able to search much but one of my workers knows how much I like Lincolns and saves containers of them for me!! (thanks Bud.)

Anyway, this one surprised me and popped up recently. I almost lost it on my desk and finally got some images. I initially only thought of it as an example of a "die ring" on coins but when taking the images it occurred to me it might be lathe lines.

Let me know what you all think and thanks for any comments.

EDIT: The concentric rings are raised.

Very cool looking and a nice find! I remember reading about these on error-ref and one of the examples on the link you provided is actually a 2018. coop has a pic at the end of a 2010 cent. Neat find.

Location is correct. Looks like Lathe Lines to me. They missed polishing out that on the die stock:

Makescents, Coop, and Dearborn, Thanks for taking a look and your input.

(I like die events and I can not lie. LOL)

The reason I was leaning away from lathe lines was that they didn't look close enough together. More like a "skinny" washer inside another larger "skinny" washer.

If you come across one you can't miss it as long as you realize the lines are raised.

I have no idea from where COOP have lathe photos, but it is 100% right, your coins have the marks.

Click on the second link that the OP provided, read it all the way through, even the big heads don't know for sure what it is. At this point, not lathe lines, not sure. The fact that they are not always perfectly centered and on the obverse and reverse.

Thanks again for looking this over and adding your thoughts.

Makescents is correct about die rings being perplexing to the experts.

Here's a couple of threads on them.
