Hi all from Hot & Humid Florida.
Can someone help me with questions on a 1955 D penny. The L in Liberty is stamped on the rim. Is this a real error? I was told worth $10-$20.

Others who know this better that I will be on this shortly.
It would find a spot in my collection, that's for sure.
Struck slightly off centre would be my uneducated guess. Nice coin!.
1st edit
Can you post a pic of the whole coin and the reverse?

Common for the year and not worth $10. Check ebay sold values for a similar coin. A full coin pic front and back would help determine value. Also, always remove coins from holders before taking photos when possible.

Yes--full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse would be welcome. The issue with the L is not uncommon, and is likely due to die deterioration--need to see full pics to better asses.

This looks like damage to me Seeing a full coin image might reveal more, but with limited information, you get limited answers.

If that someone offered you $10 for this cent, take the money and run! Appears just to be post mint damage, but full photos might tell us more.
