This is the oldest coin in my collection. It was 64 years old when the colonies formed in 1776. It is the size of a Morgan dollar. Can you imagine how many hands it has passed through! My family were Sotch, Irish, English and German. It has been in our family for years. When I hold it, it's a piece of tangible history. It shows the history of 310 years. Remarkable. My regards to all!

Yes exactly why I collected medieval coins. Very nice!

Nice coin and nice story. Too bad about the harsh cleaning,if that is what I am seeing.

Cleaned by my sister or someone in our family. I'm happy to have it! Wonderful.

If it has that family connection - that is amazing!

A good piece, but I really would have stopped your sister from "cleaning" it, has ruined the context a lot.

Outside of the cleaning, I would say its Very Good condition.

What size is your coin, if its 38 - 40mm, its a crown
If it is 32 - 34mm, it is a half crown.

You mention its a Half crown, but say it is the size of a Morgan dollar, a crown sized coin. If its a half crown, it would be a bit larger than a Half dollar.

Either I love historic coins like this.

Cleaned and scratched, not a fan.

Best to label it with the family history for future reference.

Nice coin, but the cleaning kills the eye appeal.

i have no idea where the coin was or how it happened to be with my sister. She could have gotten from my Grandmother who had a collection of old coins. I would ask my sister but unfortunately not possible. She has dimentia! My Grandmother's family moved into the Ohio Valley in the early 1700's so my bet is thats where it came from.

Fantastic!

I believe its sentimental value surpasses any perceived damage done by the cleaning!
