Do you think the 8 on the date of this 1968 D Roosevelt dime is just natural wear or an error?

What I see it is a very circulate 1968 Dime. hard to pronounce on this stage of the coin. Could be originally some grease or could be simply the circulation

Slight Greaser with circulation wear and tear.

Always show us both sides of your coin. Thanks.

How do we determine that? Note the '8' is wider than the other digits? The extra width is caused by the die being filled on the deepest part of the die, thus only the width is note on your coin. The bumps and scratches it gets from vending machines. (Always nice to know what we see, so you can see what gives us the answers) That is what I like to do to help collectors know the differences.

Circulation flattening is seen on the tops of the highest devices. Thus it is coin wear on that area of the coins.
