I've noticed that the 1983 Washington quarter is valued much higher than other years but I'm unable to figure out what is making them significant. Any help?

1982 & 1983 years didn't have any mint sets made with both issues from the mint. Each mint did have sets but you had to get them there. So BU coins were overlooked and now they are worth more than other years around them.

BU is brilliant uncirculated, or very very very very shiny and new.

This means it has to have full hair lines and very fine details. If you saved one when it first came out, chances are that it is BU.

If you don't mind, you can post a pic up here and let us have a stab at grading it.

And oh right... to the forums!

**** and when I say very shiny, DON'T CLEAN IT That will make hairlines and other marks on an other wise good coin and decrease its value

Well Thank you again for the information. Rats though. None of the 83's I have are quite that. I have lots that I need looked at and figured this wast the place to have them graded. As with the 83's, is it the same story for the 85 P and 86 D?
