The obverse of this one, 26 mm wide, is completely smooth. I swear I've seen the reverse somewhere before, but now I cannot remember where. Clues, please, and thanks for any help.
Definitely a monogram, and I would guess either Sweden, Denmark, Norway--or perhaps Netherlands. It doesn't appear Tsarist to me--or is it? I think I see a "K", but the rest is obscured to my eyes...some ornate numerals may be there such as "X". Can you pick out anything more?
Not Scandinavian, but from the German States. This monogram was used in the electorate Hesse-Cassel. The WK-monogram stands for "Wilhelm Kurfürst" (William, elector) and was used by the electors Wilhelm I (1803-1806 and 1813-1821) and Wilhelm II (1821-1831) With a size of 26 mm., it must be a 4 heller coin.
Interestingly, with a little tweaking of the brightness, the scan turned up more details than did my naked eye. Thanks, bart! 2 for 2 today on getting "hard" coins identified, and my taxes finished and filed to boot. A good Sunday, for sure!
