Does anyone know of ways to figure out the dates on severely worn coins? I have a number of them.

to the Community!

Your post was moved to the appropriate forum for the proper attention.

It will depend on the coin. Do you have some examples you can show us?

Sometimes, polarized light can help to reveal the date on a worn coin.
I have never used UV light for this purpose; perhaps a stamp collector may be able to offer a good opinion.

Sometimes a black & white photo helps. On nickels you can use a product called Nic-A-Date, I think that is what it is called.

Since we are talking about coins with essentially no numismatic value, it is probably worthwhile to mention nic-a-date here.

Sometimes if you look at a worn coin with or without a magnifier at slight angles left and right you can make out at least 3 numbers . But please show us some pics .

Ok, I will find some examples and get pictures. I believe they are all pennies, but I'm not too sure on being able to get good photos but sure will try. Also, thank you for all the "welcomes"!

Different frequency light can sometimes enhance details. I've got a cheap LED desk lamp that has RGB control and flipping through the colours can occasionally highlight something you'd otherwise miss.

Let's see if I can figure it out. Hmmm, this is becoming a trail to my patience!
