All of my research is pointing to yes I did find this coin but it never hurts to have extra opinions since I am fairly new to the coin hunting community.

No. This a later die strike on this die. All the SMS nickels are the VEDS (Very-Early Die-State) die state nickels.

Note how clear the devices are on the SMS and the Business strike examples. The SMS nickels are struck twice. The business strikes are only struck once.

The proof nickels, and the SMS nickels show the stronger definition on the devices, but the SMS doesn't have the shine that the proof nickels have. They are more of a Matte finish on them. Yours is a normal nickel with lot of die wear.

First to the CCF We get this question almost as frequently as any other. Short answer is no. You will never find a SMS 64 anything in circulation. All sets have been accounted for. If you didn't get from the director of the mint in 64, it's not a SMS coin.

Thank you for the info Coop. Your pictures were much more helpful than the ones that were posted on the HA website. Maybe it was just the angle of the coin when the picture was taken that the business strike mint coin and the sms looked near the same in color. I know my pictures are definitely not the best but this coin does have what appear to be full steps.

I do have a coin shop that I can go to for an in-person opinion but its located almost a 2 hour drive from my house. Now that I know its a business strike at least I won't sound as silly when I ask the coin shop to check and see if I am right about the full steps or not.

Agree with the 'no SMS' assessment above. Given the images posted, I'm not seeing convincing full steps--close maybe.
