I am wanted to purchase this 1799 Large Cent from a seller but I was wondering about it's authenticity. The seller is too far away to see the coin in person (50+ miles). I personally would avoid this if I didn't have more info. And even all beat up it's a coin worth being graded so authenticity would my biggest worry. Did the seller mention the weight of the coin, diameter, etc? I know very little about US Large Cents and this does look like a good whole fillers for this kind of coin. .. Zurie Pillar of the Community United States 5674 Posts	Posted 07/27/2022 3:06 pm As @jerryc39 and @jacrispies noted, it's not a 1799. It's a 1798 S-166 variety. The date position is wrong for a 1799, and the reverse die crack matches perfectly with the 1798 variety below. Report this Post to the Staff
