Hello, I am looking for some advice. I am wanted to purchase this 1799 Large Cent from a seller but I was wondering about it's authenticity. The seller is too far away to see the coin in person (50+ miles). I am looking for any input anyone has. Thanks!

the colour looks off to me and the pictures are less then optimal for judgment. I personally would avoid this if I didn't have more info. And even all beat up it's a coin worth being graded so authenticity would my biggest worry. Did the seller mention the weight of the coin, diameter, etc? I know very little about US Large Cents and this does look like a good whole fillers for this kind of coin. .. But a very expensive one lol. If it is authentic the grade I would put at ag3 tops plus several details designations.

The seller is not specialized in coins, she is an antique dealer.

This is a 1798 S-166. Note the reverse die crack. Edit: jerryc39 beat me to it

As @jerryc39 and @jacrispies noted, it's not a 1799. It's a 1798 S-166 variety. The date position is wrong for a 1799, and the reverse die crack matches perfectly with the 1798 variety below.

I'm not sure what the price is, but I personally would pass.

I wouldn't buy a 99 unless it was slabbed of from a very reputable dealer. And this is coming from someone who couldn't care less about TPGs.
