The Polar Zone coins - 2021

This is the final coin in the series.
The-German-Climate-Coins-Series-2016---2021

It shows a leopard seal diving and swimming through cold water surrounded by an iceberg and iceshelf. The Ice berg is visible above and below water. It is an etheral scene of the frozen poleward extremities where there has been limited to no human impact.
A closer exmination shows an ice sheet in front of a larger jagged edge, either bare rock or glacier ice falling into the sea, signifying how global warming is destroying this unique environment.

The ring colour is various shades or purple and violet to express the extreme cold of this region. Its so cold that what little precipitation falls is always snow. There are also extremes in daylight and night, there is up to 6 months of continuous day and 6 of night, but even at the edges of this zone, at least 2 or 3 months are in darkness.

Natalie Tekampe again designed this scene and the otherside again shows the German eagle and the date now being 2021.

The coin was again released in September and again with the last of the 10 Euro series being "The sea" (Cue Triggersmob - showing it).

Coins left to right - A, D, F, G, J, (No colours provided on the Numista page as of yet - but I say shades of violet)

Mintages again were 600k + 80k proof life per mint and the coin was released some time in early Septmber.

It concluded the series of 30 coins.

Reverse of the €10 2019 (Luft/Air)

Reverse of the €10 2021 (Wasser/Water)

The-German-Climate-Coins-Series-2016---2021

The polymer ring of all 15 coins (3 designs x 5 mints = 15 coins) is the same: clear/translucent
The outer ring is different though.
--silver/Air (coin does not contain silver)
--copper-red/Land
--blue/Water

The colour in triggersmobs photo is misleading. The outer ring is blue. It's Niob niobium plated.

"Niob" is the German name for the element. For English speakers, we call it "niobium".

I am calm about the 5 euro coins. The 10 euro coins with the image of air, water, and earth shocked me. They are very beautiful.

Those coins are beautiful and hopefully if I find an extra $100 note, would love t get a set hint hint.

Is the polymer in them translucent like the 5 Euro ones?

Thanks for the photos.

Never heard of Niobium, was that named after the Niobids?
