Just got an Email from the Mint. It is not really the "Buy One Get One" you were thinking though...

Quote:
For a limited time, when you buy the award-winning 2017 American Liberty One Ounce 225th Anniversary High-Relief Gold Coin at regular price, you will receive a companion 2018 One-Tenth Ounce American Liberty Gold Coin at no additional cost. The price for both coins together will be the same as the price for the one ounce version by itself.

652 * $2665 = $1,737,580 and also 11,774 (!) of the $330 1/10th ounce ($3,875,520)

Still not much of a bargain.

$1,769 (1 ounce) + $177 (1/10 ounce) = $1,946 (bullion value) which the US mint charges $2665. A premium of $719

This 2017 gold coin is priced nearly $1000 more than it was when released. I assume they are still making a nice profit on this deal.

The 2017 1 ounce coin is just not an appealing
design in my opinion . I would buy a nice mint state
Indian Head Ten or a Saint Twenty any day over
that coin .

I have this design in silver (medal)... times five (a single and a four medal set in different strike types). I really like it.

Gold, however, has never really been in my budget. So yeah, I would rather finish out the last six key date holes in my albums. Cost is about the same.

I'm about 2 and a half months late to this party but.......I know all the arguments against this commemorative (pricing/appearance) but I have all the other American Liberty coins and wanted to get this one and have been looking to pick up one at a bit more reasonable price. I missed out on this offer and would probably have taken them up on it had I seen it. Coincidentally I was visiting my daughter who lives 850+ miles during the time period of the offer and for that reason may have missed it. Now though I see that the mint only offered this to mint customers who have been inactive and not ordered from them in a while. Is this true? If so, righteous indignation will follow.
