We don't usually do backtracks but considering how slowly we're going anyway maybe we should invite @Collects82 to post their 1482?

I'll hold off on posting a 1480-dated coin until we hear from @jbuck about your idea. I personally am happy to have more participation, but it is their call not mine.
The more examples, the better; request approved!

While we're waiting we could find other late medieval rulers who look like 1970s rockers

Yikes!

Are we stuck?

Spence has a 1480, but he is offline until the end of the month.

Not really, though it would be inconvenient...

In other words, @tdziemia should be able to get us to 1474, then it gets trickier.

It's plausible that @bd251 and/or @ttkoo have some Islamic coins for some of the Spence-only dates, though; with just a few exceptions (mostly former gaps), the coin posts consulted for this listing are all at least two years old.

Not from me I'm afraid. I have a big gap until 1448.

I have 1480. I thought we were still waiting for @Collects82 to post 1482.

After that I have 1477, 1470 or 1469 (AH 874), and 1467

In principle yes, but it's been a while. We could probably afford to wait a while more if Spence is temporarily away, though.

Did anyone remember to actually notify @Collects82?

Not me. But I just did something to get his attention.

Ahhh... looks like the 7th edition is rolling again.
I am astounded at the condition of some of these early hammered coins. Very nice, tdziemia.

And wouldn't you know it. I've been watching this edition keenly, but like a deer in the headlights I guess. I just realised I have a 1482.....oh well, it may see the light of day in the 8th edition!

These types from the Burgundian Netherlands were struck in imopressively large quantitites for their time ... about a million a year for both the briquet and double briquet in Brabant. Given how generous NGC is with grades for hammered types, I've been curious what a few of them might get.

By the way, unless you know how the legends on that one are put together, it loooks like there is a date of 1868 on the obverse at 4:00. I think the diemaker got lazy and used the same punch to make the number 8 and to make a double annelet that was used as a stop between the lettering. So the abbreviation DEI G for dei gratia, when you add the double annelet stops (DEI : G : ...) looks like DE1868.

Here is a similar piece as @tdz posted yesterday, but in slightly rougher condition. I have attributed it as Levinson II-45.
