This 1984 LMC has been sitting on my shelf for awhile. Looks strange to me but wanted to ask before it goes into File 13. My pics aren't the best (as what? as usual) but hope you can see what's going on. There is 'indenting' left of Lincoln's head through B and E and ending at the bust. I doubt it's a clash but hopeful. I'm not seeing anything crazy on the reverse or the rim. Thank you for any help!

A type of worn die issue, I think. Kinda like major Ridge Ring?

Looks like DDD.
Stages:
1. Level one the fields are showing the fields affected towards the closest rim.

2. The fields have part of the field DDD direction off the die and Ridge Ring is seen on the fields, choking the devices.

3. After a die polishing the devices are sometimes almost removed in come cases, but all show thinner/shorter devices from the polishing.

4. The field look altered like your coin. So that is what you are seeing the DDD to the strongest extreme that I've seen so far. Premium? No just die events on the dies. (These ratings are just mine. Stuff I noticed about DDD)

CoopHome: Ridge Ring? What is that? die aging process on cent single squeeze dies.

So, it is DDDW. That's a new one for me.

I've seen this before, bud didn't realize what it was. Now that I know they are progressive, I figured out it was just a 4 stage of the DDD aging on the cents.

Thank you for your insight coop. I was hoping for a clash of some sort but even to me it didn't look like anything that could jive to make it a clash. And now I know the rest of the story. Will definitely put in a 2x2 and keep for future reference.

They are just die events. When so many of these will eventually look like this, it will be quite common to see. To me I'd rather have a fresher die example, than a worn out die example. Like this one:
1982 Large Date cent EDS

Note the devices and the fields on this die? Not a doubled die, just an earlier die state coin.
