I bought another clipped 5c planchet from the same seller because I liked the first one. The coins are in great shape and the seller listed them as single clips seemingly overlooking the second clip. This one caught my eye with the top of the coin coming to what looks like a point and I thought maybe an elliptical clip or corner clip maybe the cause. After getting it in hand I'm thinking maybe just a really slight second clip was the cause. Maybe the smallest clip ever? What does everyone think? Weighs 4.78g - Thanks for looking!

That is a single clip. What you are looking at is called the Blakesley affect opposite the area of the clip. During the setup process, the area where the clip happened, the rim is not as tall because of the push was there to form the rim on the planchet. Because the strike on the rim looks different, that is the Blakesley affect on that area.

Even as a single clip, that is a great looking coin. Well done @coinhi.

I feel seeing and reasoning help us to try to keep up with all the subject discussed here. Most other sites, just give yes or no answers. It answers the questions, but does help a new one to grow. Sharing why you gave the answer, helps new ones more, than just giving an answer. "Students give answers, Teachers help them to see why the answer is correct. Thus my use of a lot of images. So All can share being teachers to new ones here. Helping someone see something, is like turning on the light for a new collector. It ignites the imagination. Why and why something can't happen, answers 'Why' it couldn't happen. So welcome new challenges, they will help you learn even more faster.
