It's been awhile since I picked up my scope and looked at anything. Is the doubling I'm seeing n the "L" and "I" in LIBERTY, normal for this year? I know the 1960's produced some LMC's with thick devices, with some years having MDO's that are commonplace. I cant remember if 1968-D is one of those mints and years.

Possible contact from another coin. There is no other areas affected with Machine Doubling. If this were a DDO then more the devices on that area would be affected. Thus the contained area is not enlarged, but altered on your coin.
