Howdy. Been away, busy at work for a little while. Dropping by for thoughts on a recent pickup.

$430. Thanks!

This issue exhibits some pronounced die rust. Other examples of the 1818 quarter display the raised bump in the tail after the 2 in the reverse's denomination, but this coin shows a few more bumps than other coins I have looked at.

I like this early quarter. I think you got a good deal for a raw coin and I think it should be sent to TPG for proper grading. I see it as VF-35. There are 7 different browning numbers associated with this date so it needs to be properly identified. Slabbed coins on the PCGS site give the following values: VF25= $750, VF30=$875, VF35= $1025. Depending on which Browning number applies to this coin it could be anywhere from $600-$900. I say for accuracy this needs to be slabbed but you got a good deal. Congrats!

Very nice. I think this could make it to EF-40.

I really like the look of this coin. I was considering bidding on it, but I won another, more expensive coin before this one ended, so I met my limit for the week. For $430, I think you got a really nice coin. When I was considering bidding on it, I had this coin at XF-40, with the strong reverse making XF-45 a possibility.

The reverse is clearly stronger than the obverse, but I'd say it just makes XF-40. Looks like a Browning-2 with the die crack above the cap.

Thanks to all for sharing your thoughts. I agree that it is the common Browning 2 with the pronounced obverse die crack.

Nice looking. I think this could make XF-45.
