I recently acquired a 1934 Walking Liberty half dollar. It's in okay shape, not great but that is not the issue. I believe it has been defaced. There is what looks like a black dot on her face, it seems to be a hole but doesn't go through the coin. Then on the reverse of the coin on the eagles chest is a perfect star. It's really quite pretty but I've never seen such a thing and I have quite a few Walking Liberty half dollars. I'm pretty sure it has no value except for silver content but I was just wondering if anyone else has ever encountered the star. I have pictures if anyone is interested in taking a look. Thanks

to CCF and yes please, large focused clear photos cropped to just the coin. Use Pixlr Image Optimizer to get the shots under 300KB. All the info is below in the "Full Reply box"

That is what I thought. Just figured I'd see if anyone else has run into the star on the eagle. Thank you, I really appreciate you taking a look.

to the CCF! it's a counterstamp. Lot's of these around and some people do collect them. This one makes the eagle look like a 'Captain America' type of superhero.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

On the overlays you can find where the opposite side of the coin could have been affected. But I'm not seeing that on your coin. So it may have not been punched deeply into the coin? (causing the opposite side to push outwards)
