The coin is not a blockbuster, but it is definitely a Pre-Cud, with a rim-to-rim die crack. It's the first 1978 LMC that appears as a Pre-Cud on Cuds on Coins.

A neat find. The Cuds on Coins listing is PC-1c-1978-01. Here's a better view of the die crack:

Congrats on the listing! Very nice catch, I probably would have overlooked it.

Huh I would've called that a scratch, PMD. Definitely something I would not have sought out.

I agree with Tanman2001 that this appears to be a scratch.

Odd shape for a scratch. I'm thinking it's a pre-cud as well.

Thanks makecents, coinfrog and dearborn for your comments. It was well worth the time and effort to discover this Pre-Cud--which is my first. If you spend some time studying similar listings of PC die cracks on Cuds on Coins you will find that you can distinguish such die events from mere scratches.
