I've been reading about the rarity of 1982 and 1983 quarters and the limited high grade examples. I have a couple 1982 and 1983 quarters and here is one of them. I thought maybe misaligned or mint error. Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

I don't know where you heard about them being rare, there where over 1 Billion produced each year.
Also I don't see any mint errors on your quarter, any misalignment is slight and within spec.

Can you, please tell me the source of those rarities? I will read and come back to explain. In 82-83 the observe design was change which give some transitional varieties but are not rare. on both years was more then 1.8 bill coins. Divide by 4 and if you consider rarity? is OK for me.

mint sets were not generally available during 1982 and 1983, so unlike most years high grade examples have to come from circulation

Given the images posted I'm seeing a common, well-circulated '82 P.

It is the 1982/3 Mint sets that are rare - seeing how the mint did not issue any. However, in the gift shop of each mint you could buy a set in person only. So there are not many to be had now. (I have one each from both Philly and Denver mints).

This quarter is just a common quarter that was issued to general circulation.

So if you ever find BU rolls of these, they are worth picking up. (Probably not well known, if they are valuable to most collectors in the BU original rolls) As mentioned above about the lack of mint sets for those years.
