Hello all,

I found a 2016 Shawnee quarter in decent condition with a grease strike through. Good stuff. If I'm off the mark, let me know

It looks more like Extreme Die Deterioration aka VLDS
( Very Late Die State)

Thanks JimmyD! I'll use this as a reference coin then while looking through others.

Agreed, this is a very late die state, not a Greaser. Cool!

Motto is showing Machine Doubling on that area. Just a normal coin with die and striking issues. The reverse on the incuse devices are showing die polishing removing the raised devices (incuse devices on the coin) flattened, thus the incuse devices are very weak on the top devices on the reverse outer ring. Terrible die state when this coin was struck.

I know looking through these boxes I am bound to see many of these... and I saw some lesser deteriorated ones, but this one just stood out as being terrible. I think a progression of failing dies would be great, but having something I can compare to is a start :). Maybe I'll find something great as I keep churning through thousands of coins. Thanks for the insight everyone!
