i have been going through 5 boxes of pennies and came across alot of coppers. I know some people buy these but whats a average price per roll? am I wasting my time keeping the copper while I look for other things?

The melt value of a penny is equal to its face value.

But peopleare still buying them on e-bay for a premium:

Just did a little research and found out that selling cent for copper is actually a losing business! I roll of copper cent with copper at 1.42/lb is worth .49 lol

I keep all copper Lincoln cents, this last summer copper was at $4.10, or just short of 3 cents per coin. With the world market like it is copper should reach the same amount, if not higher this coming summer.

When copper was that high, I saw a completed box sell for $95 or so.

My guess is that the guy that paid $95 for a box of copper cents was heavily invested with Bernard Madoff, too.

If you sell them on realcent, people some to pay 1.3 cents per delivered. You would need to fill a big flat rate box to the 70 pound limit to make any worthwhile profit.

Also contact the online dealer APMEX because they were buying them for a premium recently
