I bought this from a trader who didn't know what it was, beyond that it appeared to be Roman. I don't know ancients either but I like the rider and aqueduct design, and the price was worth the fun of researching it.
By comparing it to images online my tentative ID is: Marcius Philippus (whoever he was), denarius, ca 56BC. Head of King Ancus Marcius obverse; equestrian statue, flower and aqueduct reverse.
I don't have scales to weigh it but the diameter is 17mm.
It has some damage and I understand it's a relatively common coin but I like it anyway.
Any insights welcome, also as to its authenticity or otherwise.

I am NO expert but this is what I found and with the aqueducts (I am assuming lines between the letters) maybe a good place to start?

The particular Lucius Marcius Philippus associated with this coinage (there were three generations with the same name) was a prominent governor and consul of the late Roman republican period. He was also the stepfather of Gaius Octavius, who later became the first Roman emperor, Augustus.
