The Charlotte NHRA race is scheduled for this weekend! Once again, please provide your predictions for each pro category represented at this race (TF Dragster, TF Funny Car, Pro Stock car) and PM them to me along with your estimate of top speed for each winner. The contest winners will be those with the best combined score in all three races (top speed used for tie breakers.) Here's how I will determine rankings:

Your pick is final round winner = 3 pts / runner up = 2 pts / third place = 1 pt

Each of the three rounds will provide points. As stated, if we have a tie after all is said and done, top speed guesses will be used to determine the winner. So, guess the top speed of each class winner (regardless of who the winner is) in the final round.

Best guess wins their choice of Morgan or Peace dollar and the runner-up gets the leftover. I will (try) to get good photos of the prizes sometime during the week. In any case, a pic will be posted by the end of the week.

You can start sending your guesses to me today (PM only.) Deadline for guesses will be midnight (forum time) on Saturday, September 24th. Once I get your guesses, they are locked in. I would suggest waiting until after the Saturday qualifying sessions to send them - someone may have unforeseen trouble and not make the race.

Final round of elimination races is scheduled for Sunday afternoon about 5:00 PM, but the race usually goes beyond the expected end times and they will postpone if it rains. Contest winners will be announced at some point after the race.

As stated earlier - I'm willing to send the prizes anywhere in the world that USPS will accept packages for delivery. You may need to let me know best options if you're outside of the USA. NOTE: this contest is limited to CCF members with at least 50 posts under your belt.

If you are unfamiliar with drag racing and/or the contestants, go to the following website. There are tabs for the categories along the top of the drivers chart (PS Motorcycle will not be represented at this race, so disregard those drivers.)

https://www.nhra.com/standings/2022...acing-series

Good luck and check in to see how your drivers are doing on Sunday afternoon if you can.

Edited to clarify some things.

Contest info:

Please use this template for guesses:

Quote:
TF Dragster winner: _______________
TF Dragster top speed: ______ mph
TF Funny Car winner: ______________
TF Funny Car top speed: ______ mph
Pro Stock winner: _____________
Pro Stock top speed: ______ mph

Example of contest guess submission:
TF Dragster winner: John Doe
TF Dragster top speed: 500 mph
TF Funny Car winner: Jane Doe
TF Funny Car top speed: 400 mph
Pro Stock winner: Jim Bob
Pro Stock top speed: 300 mph

Example results scoring:
John Doe wins TF Dragster: 3 pts
Jane Doe comes in 3rd in TF Funny Car: 1 pt
Jim Bob does not place in race: 0 pts
You score 4 pts

Tiebreaker example:
Final round race winner's speed / TF Dragster = 495 mph
Final round race winner's speed / TF Funny Car = 420 mph
Final round race winner's speed / Pro Stock = 100 mph

Tiebreaker Scoring:
(500-495) + (420-400) + (300-100) = 225 mph

Edit: For clarification, person with lowest tiebreaker score wins

I took photos of the prizes last night, but the Morgan pics are nowhere to be found (operator error...) My picture-taking skill are getting worse rather than better. Likely a result of new work station, new lighting and very little time for having this type of fun. Will attempt again tonight.

In the meantime, here is the 1923 Peace dollar that is up for grabs.

@Bump111 oh well, guess I gotta get to 50 posts someday. A certain person I can't stand will probably win the door slammers anyway.

Would that person be male or female?

I think he's a great guy! I've actually met him off-track a couple of times in Wilmington, NC and he will talk as long as you want. One of my favorite drivers, actually. But, I used to have the same opinion of him in his early days.

Isn't it funny how we all have our likes / dislikes for different reasons?

Edit: I was NEVER a fan of WJ, though.

WJ was always my favorite. I raced a 69 442, so there was the Oldsmobile connection. Bob Glidden and Cowboy came in a close second though.
