Well, first of all, you ask if it could be a DDO (doubled die obverse), but most of the pictures seem to be of the reverse. I'm going to assume you want to know if it's a DDR and answer based on what I see on the reverse. Looks like just a bit of worthless Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration Doubling, unfortunately.

haha, yes DDR is what I was asking about. I'm still in that awkward stage where I'm not sure if it's MD or actual doubling. (I'm sure this is extremely irritating to experts) So far this has been the closest example of what I could think is actual DDR. with the scope I have, I can find some form of MD on just about any piece. I'm trying to figure out how to differentiate between the two. I figured if I could still clearly see it with the whole coin in picture, surely that's DDR but it seems I may have much to learn still. thanks for the feedback and patience as I learn.

You have the die variety IIb. This die do not have the DDR's in any circumstances. I am sorry to disappointed you. For your knowledge: the only DDR was in the Q letter. leaves in the front of arrows tips and the inner wing left. Hope educate you and help.

Ps: Also I can say you has the normal observe design. When I saw the title I hope I see the Observe transition. Damage no/ to be more clear with you: Me and all who help me in the study we past more then 800 K 1981P and no DDR.

@Dcjbiggie not annoying at all! We were all there once. Are you using a reference site like Variety Vista/Wexler's die varieties while you hunt? Doing so will greatly reduce your false positive rate.

Reverse is showing extreme die wear on the devices. That is what you are seeing on Quarter Dollar. Just a worn out die that will continue to age even more as it gets closer to retirement.

In future posts, please mention exactly where you see doubling. Also remember, true Doubling on coins is very rare, but keep searching!

The first two pictures were just showing the entire coin. The second to last was to show the E in "E pluribus unum" I found that interesting. The last picture has doubling taking place just about everywhere you look so I thought that one was self explanatory. I'll be more descriptive in the future though.
