Not uncommon, but it is always nice to dig up an Encased Cent. There were thousands and thousands of Rexall Drug Stores, although it looks like that ended in the 1970s. I'm quite sure that this is the original cent for this encasement, so I'm thinking their one cent sale advertised by this one dates to the early 1950s. inscriptions are KEEP ME AND NEVER GO BROKE plus SAVE AT THE REXALL ONE CENT SALE.

In the making of these, the aluminum collar gets pressed up tight against the edge of the coin, so it'd be very difficult (if not impossible) to substitute a different coin. In any event, you shouldn't see this particular one with a coin dated later than 1950, as the contemporary article below would indicate -
