The coin is definitely a "details".

Coin is considered damaged and referred to as a cull. On the wholesale market these are worth about $2 each as long as they have dates and no holes.

At 18$ you overpaid but consider it as "tuition" toward your numismatic education.

I've been dealing with coins for 60+ years and I'm still paying "tuition" on occasions! It just goes with the territory!
